Root Canal Treatment

Having a root canal done on a tooth is the number one treatment of choice to save a tooth that otherwise would become necrotic and die and have to be extracted.

This intricate procedure is performed to remove an infection from the tooth, and protect against loss or removal. Root canal treatment is usually needed when the nerve of a tooth is severely affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the nerves, bacteria, and any decay are carefully removed, and the resulting space is then filled with dental materials which restore the tooth to its full function.

NOTE: While some patients believe that removing a problematic or damaged tooth is the most effective solution, it’s also worth noting that extracting a tooth can cause significant issues for adjacent and opposing teeth, bone loss, ageing and potentially result in more costly procedures in the long-term.
